REMINDERS

HIPAA CAMPAIGN IS COMING VERY SOON – NOW IS THE TIME TO COLLECT INFORMATION AND REVIEW RESOURCES – As was mentioned in the June 24 edition of InFo, all US members of PRISM International will be asked to comment on a new rule issues by Health and Human Services regarding Business Associate provisions. We will be using comments to voice the concerns of the industry in a number of areas related to HIPAA. Here are some things you can do now to prepare for your response.

1. Measure the impact that HIPAA compliance has on your business. Specifics are very important, particularly where costs that may be a burden to small business are concerned. Take some time now to review changes you have made to your business, training costs, capital purchases and insurance or other mitigation costs.2. If you are not already familiar, find out the name of your member of Congress. If your business and home are in different Congressional districts, find out the name of both. You can use this link to find out: https://writerep.house.gov/writerep/welcome.shtml.
3. Review industry resources related to HIPAA at this special webpage on the PRISM International website: http://www.prismintl.org/2010-hipaa-campaign-key-points
